“How you do anything is how you do everything”
Every time I hear this quote it has an awakening effect on me. It always sharply reminds me of who I am, what are my true values and my true priorities in life. So much so as if I was just called by my name… my identity even.
The quote is so simple yet so deep at the same time. It reveals all aspects of the truth about us: the pleasant and the unpleasant ones. There are things that we do that makes us proud of ourselves and of course, there are things that we do which we tend to hide or to be ashamed of. And all of this can be seen in the tiny little actions we perform every day. Our actions always reveal the deepest truth about us whether we just say “hi” or “thank you”, cook a meal, grow a plant, how we dress, give a present, or hold space for someone…
If we only take the smallest fracture of our lives (a text message, a meeting or witnessing us communicating), it is enough to form a precise opinion about us.
Let’s say you never yet met somebody in person and are just texting each other or arranging a meeting. The text message is already enough to glimpse at the true nature of the person. For instance, the timing of the message, the tone, the words, even the emojis used provide plenty of information that should be taken into account. Why? Because YOU WOULD KNOW WHO IS ABOUT TO COME INTO YOUR LIFE…
Of course, our mind would argue that one should “not judge the book by its cover”, but the intuition would contradict: “you should always trust your gut”, even if it’s the first impression about someone.
Usually the intuition detects many of the red flags immediately and signals us about them but, unfortunately, our logical mind fights so hard to make the person meet our expectations. And we should listen to the intuition as it always has this great intention to protect us from potential harm…
The lesson here is this: every little action speaks of our core values and priorities in life. It shows our challenges, traumas and pain. Pay close attention to the little things you do in life for they are the building blocks of your personality that determine (or limit) your spiritual, emotional, mental growth. So be mindful with your choices.
